Crystal Germond has focused her career on curating influence and building momentum through marketing. She enjoys the challenge of adapting channels to serve business goals (instead of the other way around). A natural amplifier, she weaves together strategy, creativity and analytics to build trustworthy brands and drive growth. At JDI, she loves the challenge of finding the most essential and relatable facet of a technology and making it relevant for new audiences.
Prior to JDI, Crystal served as Head of Marketing at PenPal Schools (an edtech startup, TechStars Austin '16), leading customer acquisition, developing the brand, and orchestrating engagement with a global audience. Before relocating to Austin, she was deeply involved in the Boston technology community, creating PR and marketing strategies for local TEDx events and Startup Weekends as well as consulting companies in the technology, arts and education industries. She also served as Social Media Editor at Partners In Health (a global health organization), where she managed social media, influencer relations and crisis communications at an important inflection point: the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Crystal earned an MBA from Brandeis University (where she discovered accounting is kinda awesome) and has received some awards for creativity in marketing and digital strategy (detailed on LinkedIn). She practices minimalism, cooks at least one meal daily and unwinds by reading in a midnight blue velvet armchair (the color appeared in a dream!). She's big on meditation and 90s R&B.
